Bret Siers Music / EchoVerse ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you visit our website or use our app.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (securely handled by Firebase Authentication), display name, and optional profile information such as bio and crew membership.

Profile Picture: If you upload a profile picture, the image is stored in Firebase Storage and linked to your account.

User-Generated Content: We collect content you voluntarily post, including feed posts, comments, crew group posts, and song feedback. This content is stored in our Firebase Firestore database and is visible to other users.

Usage Data: We collect song play counts, likes, and feedback to display on the platform. Play counts are tracked per song and are visible to all users.

Email Address (Mailing List): If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address through Formspree to send occasional updates about new music releases.

How We Use Your Information

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared as necessary with the following service providers:

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage. Your data is processed by Google under their privacy policy.

Formspree: Our mailing list form is powered by Formspree. When you submit your email, it is processed under their privacy policy.

GitHub Pages: This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect basic server logs (IP addresses, browser type) as described in their privacy statement.

YouTube: Embedded videos on our Videos page are served by YouTube. YouTube may collect data as described in Google's privacy policy.

Data Storage and Security

Your account data, posts, and profile information are stored in Firebase Firestore (cloud database). Profile pictures are stored in Firebase Storage. Passwords are securely handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plain text.

Some data (such as local play history) may also be stored on your device using browser localStorage.

Cookies and Tracking

We do not use cookies or third-party analytics trackers. Firebase Authentication uses local storage tokens to maintain your login session.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
